Lots of Fun in Store for this Year's Meadows Celebration



In addition to the Jeff Baumann Cardboard Canoe Race, Watermelon Eating Contest, live entertainment from North 27 and Fireworks, there are a number of other activities for families to enjoy during the 2013 Meadows Celebration. Check out the highlights below:
 
  • The Dodgeball Tournament, which has been popular for the past couple years, will be offered again this year. It will take place at the inline skating rink, and will begin at 8 p.m. Participants are asked to register on-site by 7:15 p.m. at the rink.

  • Kids will have a choice of three Inflatables. The inflatables (Bounce House, Slide and River Rush) will be available in the east park from 4 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

  • The Little Feats Obstacle Course, an Army-style obstacle course for ages 5-15 years old, is new this year. The event will take place near Pavilion #2 from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

  • The ever-popular Poker Walk will give families the chance to check out the walking trail. Participants should sign up at the welcome tent in the east park to receive their instructions. The Poker Walk will run from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

  • The DeWitt Public Library brings back Interactive Story Time from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in east park pavilion #3. This year’s theme is “Dig into Reading.” Registration is not required. Children of all ages are invited to take part in this activity.

  • An annual favorite for the kids is Face Painting. Face painters will be showing off their creativity from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at pavilion #3.

  • Apples the Clown will again make an appearance. She’ll be putting smiles on the faces of kids at various locations throughout the east and west park from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

  • The entire family will be able to participate in Catch & Release Fishing held at the Koi Pond from 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

  • The DeWitt Township Fire Department will be performing a Vehicle Extrication Demonstration in the east park at 5:30 p.m.

  • Kiddie Train Rides will take place in the east park parking lot between 4 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.

  • The whole family can watch the Wood Carver in the east park parking lot between 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

  • Kids can test their skills during the Hula Hoop Contest, held in front of the Sledding Hill Stage in the west park during North 27’s show at approximately 8:15 p.m.

  • What could be more fun than chasing bouncing balls around an inline skating rink? Kids will have an opportunity to collect as many super balls as they can during the Super Ball Drop at 9:30 p.m. (younger children) and 9:45 p.m. (older children).

  1. grandchildren have a blast here every year, they do the watermelon contest, and the hula hoop contest, and they have won it first place a couple of times.
