Still Time to Register for the Cardboard Canoe Race

Have you always wanted to build a boat out of cardboard and race it across a pond? Well, now's your big chance. Put your building, engineering and creative skills to good use in this year's Jeff Baumann Cardboard Canoe Race.

There are two different ways you can participate:
  • Build your boat ahead of time. Pick up supplies (cardboard and packing tape) from DeWitt Township at 1401 W. Herbison Road. Enlist the help of as many people as you want and add embellishments to your canoe to make it look snazzy. Transport your boat to Granger Meadows Park and check in by 6 p.m. on July 18.
  • Do an on-site build. Assemble your team and show up at Granger Meadows Park on July 18 by 6 p.m. to check in. You will be given cardboard and packing tape and 30 minutes to build your boat.
Download this .pdf for a complete list of rules and a registration form.
